Senior Software Engineer, C&I

The Commercial & Industrial Team facilitates the management of our non-residential demand response programs, covering some of our largest customers and programs by flexible grid capacity. Our newly formed team will play a critical role in ensuring the scalability and flexibility of our future by creating a first-class platform for our clients. As a senior engineer, you will support our mission by providing expertise and guidance from past industry experience, and autonomously developing high-quality solutions that balance multiple constraints while ensuring long-term flexibility. You will work cross-platform on both our application engineering codebases and our data engineering tools such as Snowflake and DBT.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core platform features that solve for multiple constraints and use cases.
• Design and lead technical initiatives in React and provide guidance on front-end best practices and standards.
• Develop front-end and back-end solutions, with an emphasis on front-end, ensuring well-structured, high-quality code with automated testing.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, internal engineering teams, and stakeholders to contribute to high-impact projects.
• Work within real-world constraints to develop creative solutions that enhance platform flexibility and scalability.
• Contribute to best practices for CI/CD, data modeling, and iterative development (e.g., PoCs, rapid prototyping, milestone-based execution).
• Mentor and support other engineers, fostering a strong technical culture of respect, open communication, and collaboration.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of professional software engineering experience, with proven success at senior-level responsibilities.
• Senior-level experience with React (preferably React 19) and experience with Java (preferably Java 11+).
• Experience with web services, RESTful APIs, and contract-driven development.
• Strong full-stack development experience, including backend, frontend, and relational database modeling and development.
• Strong experience with proving changes via automated testing (e.g., Jest, JUnit).
• Strong experience and familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
• Strong problem-solving skills, capable of balancing multiple use cases while enabling flexibility.
• Strong technical project management skills. Ability to transform vague requirements into initiatives and successful outcomes.
• Ability to operate autonomously, providing technical vision and guiding the team toward scalable solutions.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality, iterative value while maintaining execution speed.
• Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on cross-functional collaboration and working on challenging technical problems.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and enthusiasm to be a full-stack engineer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Springboot and Maven.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with S3, MongoDB, AWS, DBT, Snowflake.
• Experience working on highly configurable software products.

Pay

Base salary range: $130,000—$170,000 USD. The final salary is determined based on qualifications, location, and experience, allowing for growth and development within the role.
