About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Authentication team at Pindrop, you will play a key role in building and scaling cloud services for Passport, our voice-based identity verification platform. You’ll focus on designing and delivering highly reliable, secure authentication services, leveraging AI/ML-driven signals to enhance fraud defenses and engineering productivity.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and monitor high-performance backend services and APIs using Go and Python, emphasizing secure, low-latency authentication workflows.
- Build and maintain cloud-native services across AWS and GCP, ensuring reliability, scalability, and secure production operations, including data pipelines for ML and risk models.
- Deliver features through the full software development lifecycle, using CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Tackle complex engineering problems in authentication, identity, and fraud prevention, contributing to architecture and threat-aware design.
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities (e.g., risk scores, deepfake detection) and collaborate with Research, MLOps, and other teams to productionize models.
- Use observability tools to troubleshoot production issues, improve reliability, and reduce latency for authentication journeys.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, test, research, product) to deliver and enhance authentication capabilities.
- Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to documentation, runbooks, and design reviews.
Requirements
- 5-7+ years of professional software development experience building backend services and APIs.
- Strong proficiency in Go, Python, or similar languages, with a solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and Linux-based development.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating cloud-native systems in AWS or GCP, including services like S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and IAM.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and production ownership.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, test, research, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to independently drive work from design to production, with strong judgment in performance, scale, security, and reliability.
- Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Resourcefulness and curiosity in learning new tools and technologies.
- Mentorship mindset and commitment to helping others grow.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Redis, MySQL, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, or similar technologies.
- Background in authentication, identity, fraud prevention, or security-sensitive environments.
- Familiarity with observability tooling and production diagnostics.
- Exposure to UI work or customer-facing workflows connected to backend systems.
