Senior Software Engineer

About the role

WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. We are building a movement of over 150 excellent, passionate, part-time volunteers (starting with the founders) who build mobile technologies that will touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. The Senior Software Engineer position is currently open and requires a minimum of 8 hours per week, with the potential to work up to 20 hours.

What You'll Do

• Work on a variety of interesting and challenging engineering projects, including developing new skills with CSS/HTML, ReactJS, or Python/Django.
• Install and work with our software on your development machine, which includes a React-based Mobile Website and a Django/Python API Server.
• Participate in weekly Zoom meetings with one of our engineering teams (3-5 people) to discuss code and new projects.
• Tackle specific issues and larger projects as assigned.

Who you are

• You have a passion for the latest technology and are committed to strengthening American Democracy.
• You have the necessary experience or aptitude to complete 5-20 hour-long projects.
• You are willing to work with and support other volunteers.
• You are currently located in the US and are able to work 8-40 hours per week during our core team hours (M-F 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.).
