About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the core back-end services that power PPLIED’s hiring platform. This full-time hybrid role is based in Washington, United States, with the flexibility to work remotely part of the time.
Responsibilities
- Architect scalable systems and implement robust APIs.
- Optimize data processing and matching algorithms.
- Collaborate with product managers and other engineers to deliver new features.
- Ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Contribute to technical decision-making and mentor other team members.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues.
- Continuously improve reliability and security.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles.
- Proficiency in back-end web development and software development, with experience building and maintaining scalable, production-grade services.
- Advanced programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Go, or Node.js), with experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Experience designing and consuming APIs, working with relational and/or NoSQL databases, and integrating with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Knowledge of secure coding practices, performance optimization, and monitoring/logging tools for distributed systems.
- Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and provide mentorship to less experienced engineers.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with hiring, HR tech, or marketplace platforms is a plus, along with familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
