Senior Software Engineer

This position is a full-time remote role with one of our onboarded hiring partners.

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and technical systems. You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to turn requirements into reliable, high-quality solutions.

You will contribute to architecture and system-design decisions, build APIs and integrations, improve application performance and reliability, and help shape strong engineering practices across the team.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
• Translate business requirements into secure, maintainable technical solutions
• Build and optimize integrations with internal and external data sources
• Improve system performance, reliability, monitoring, and security
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high engineering-quality standards
• Contribute to architecture decisions for cloud-based, distributed, or microservices systems
• Collaborate effectively with remote product and engineering teams
• Mentor engineers and help improve development processes, tooling, and documentation

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in computer science, including data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Hands-on experience in backend web development and software development for cloud-based or distributed systems
• Proficiency in one or more modern backend languages, such as Java, C#, Python, Go, or Node.js
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design best practices
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs or GraphQL APIs
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with Git, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code-review workflows
• Ability to communicate clearly and solve problems in a remote, collaborative environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience
• Experience with scalable architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, HR technology, or marketplaces is a plus
