Senior Software Engineer
About the role
We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Boston. This role is ideal for an experienced full-stack or backend-oriented engineer who enjoys building scalable systems, collaborating across product and engineering, and contributing to high-impact platform capabilities. You will work closely with engineering, product, and data teams to design, build, and maintain services and user-facing functionality that support Pixability's video advertising optimization platform.
This is a hybrid role based in Boston, with an expectation to work from the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and improve backend services, APIs, and platform capabilities.
- Contribute to frontend development where needed, particularly in React-based applications.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and data teams to deliver reliable, scalable features.
- Work with cloud infrastructure, databases, and modern engineering tooling.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical planning.
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Help improve engineering practices, code quality, and team delivery processes.
- Support the product and engineering roadmap and contribute to squad-level technical decision-making.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-powered product development, LLM integrations, recommendation systems, or workflow automation.
- Strong backend development experience, preferably with Python.
- Experience with data pipelines or large-scale systems.
- Experience building production web applications, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Frontend familiarity, ideally with React.
- Solid understanding of relational databases such as MySQL and/or Snowflake.
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud environments.
- Familiarity with Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, and modern development workflows.
- Strong software sing practices, including unit and integration sing.
- Able to work effectively in a collaborative, agile engineering environment.
- Strong communication skills and a self-directed working style.
- Able to work from the Boston office two days per week, specifically Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ad tech, analytics platforms, or marketing technology.
- Experience mentoring other engineers or leading technical initiatives.
Pay
The pay range for this role is $140,000 - 170,000 total compensation. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
