Senior Software Engineer
About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer you will develop, evaluate, and support desktop software products for MicroStrain’s line of inertial sensing devices—IMUs and GNSS/INS systems. In a small, collaborative team you will shape the next-generation architecture while maintaining the existing SensorConnect desktop application. The software team works across embedded C++ SDKs, CMake-based desktop applications, and ROS drivers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate desktop software for inertial sensing devices
- Define the architecture of next-generation inertial desktop tooling
- Maintain and support the SensorConnect desktop application
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software, Computer, or related engineering field
- 5+ years of experience in software development, test, and integration
- Strong proficiency in C++ software development
- Demonstrated proficiency with CMake-based build systems
- Ability to evaluate and make architectural decisions in ambiguous, research-oriented contexts
- Experience with version control
Skills
- ROS (Robot Operating System)
- Inertial sensors or sensing systems domain knowledge
- TypeScript and/or JavaScript
- Python
- OpenDAQ or similar data-acquisition frameworks
- Scrum/task-management applications (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Experience maintaining and extending legacy desktop applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Git/GitHub

Pay
$95,000 to $120,000 annually plus a 10% yearly bonus.
