Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

The engineering team owns the delivery and stability of Finix’s product end‑to‑end. As a Senior Software Engineer you will envision superior technical solutions to customers’ payment needs, lead implementation, and ensure reliable service. You will have broad autonomy to formulate the best solution, work with peers to deliver it, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Deep dive into customers’ needs and collaborate with product management to define new services.
• Own the technical vision, implementation, best practices, and infrastructure within your domain.
• Develop close relationships with product management and peer engineers.
• Become an expert in the payments domain and mentor junior software engineers.
• Proactively improve architecture, frameworks, tooling, automation, and best practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building and designing systems with multiple lifecycles.
• Extensive experience implementing secure APIs, highly available and observable services.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and test superior software.
• Comfortable continuously delivering code, infrastructure, tests, and features to production.
• Passion for finding new ways to make software reliable, scalable, and high‑performing.
• Obsessed with edge cases, understanding requirements, and design implications.
• Proactive in monitoring running systems and troubleshooting production issues.
• Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong multitasking ability and skill in managing competing priorities.
• Consistently raised the bar on every project involved.

Location

Chicago, IL (must be authorized to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship provided).

Pay

Base salary range: $150,000 – $220,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.
