Senior Software Engineer

Chicago, IL (Hybrid) | Direct Hire | Investment Management We're partnering with a high-performing investment management firm in Chicago looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer. You'll design and build enterprise services and APIs that power investment, financial, and operational data across the firm. Success in this role requires both strong technical expertise and the ability to work closely with business stakeholders to solve complex problems and shape scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities Design and develop enterprise services, APIs, and shared platformsTranslate complex business concepts into scalable domain models and software solutionsBuild high-performance APIs and data-driven applicationsPartner directly with business users and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutionsInfluence architecture, service design, data access, caching, messaging, and distributed systemsContribute to code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practicesDevelop expertise across investments, funds, valuations, cash flows, accounting, and performance data Required Experience 7+ years of software engineering experienceStrong C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core development skillsDeep understanding of object-oriented design, domain modelling, and software architectureExperience building REST APIs and service-oriented applicationsStrong SQL, relational database, and data modelling experienceAbility to work independently, take ownership, and navigate ambiguityStrong communication skills with a business-facing mindset Preferred Experience Asset Management, Investment Management, Private Markets, or Financial ServicesExperience with investment, portfolio, fund, valuation, accounting, or performance dataEnterprise data platforms, data warehousing, messaging, CQRS, event-driven architecture, or distributed systems Core Technologies C#, ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, SQL Server, Relational Data Modelling, Enterprise Data Platforms, Data Warehousing, Messaging, Event-Driven Architecture, CQRS, Distributed Systems, Caching, and Performance Optimisation.
