Senior Software Engineer

About the role

The Platform Security team at Akamai shapes the security strategy for the company's Cloud Platforms. We improve the security posture of Akamai's platform by resolving known issues and risks, and providing tools, services, and support that help Akamai teams build new products and capabilities that meet diverse security and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate engineering execution and technical expertise by delivering high-quality code and end-to-end security implementations, focusing on meeting defined objectives around scalability, availability, reliability, and performance.
• Support the full product life cycle - ideation, implementation, operation.
• Work across stakeholders - Product Management, Architecture, DevOps, and InfoSec to satisfy their needs/requirements in the software development life cycle.
• Socialize and build consensus around engineering decisions to provide stable and secure products through hands-on technical contribution.
• Solve complex security problems across both the platform and products.

Requirements

• 8 years of relevant software engineering and design experience and a BS degree, or 5 years of relevant experience and MS degree.
• Programming (e.g. Python, Go) capabilities to develop new product ideas and evolve existing systems.
• Familiarity with security concepts such as Zero Trust and secure/confidential computing.
• Familiarity with networking concepts including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, TLS/SSL.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code technologies (e.g. Terraform, Salt, etc.).
• Experience with software and hardware vulnerability management, and tools such as Tenable, Vulcan Cyber, Trivy, SonarQube, etc.
• Knowledge of compliance regimes such as PCI, ISO, SOC2, and FedRamp.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.

Pay

For US-based candidates, the base salary for this position ranges from $121,400 - $218,600/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).

Akamai offers a flexible schedule through its FlexBase program, allowing employees to work remotely, in an office, or a combination of both.
