About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with Golang and Kafka experience to design, implement, and optimize backend systems for data processing and analytics, including ML solutions. Experience with distributed systems and scalability is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs using Golang.
• Architect scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems for processing and streaming large volumes of data using Kafka.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, frontend engineers, and data engineers to define and implement backend solutions that meet business requirements.
• Optimize system performance and reliability through continuous monitoring, profiling, and tuning.
• Drive best practices for software development, code reviews, and documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and actively contribute to the growth of the engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in the Go programming language and a deep understanding of its internals.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, including designing and deploying Kafka clusters, implementing producers/consumers, and managing topics/partitions.
• Experience building and optimizing large-scale distributed systems, preferably in a cloud-based environment (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals such as algorithms, data structures, and concurrency.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members of varying technical backgrounds.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Apache Arrow, Parquet, and similar data formats for high-performance analytics.
• Experience with other programming languages such as Python, Java, or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of streaming data processing frameworks like Apache Flink or Apache Spark Streaming.
• Familiarity with highly concurrent distributed system concepts.

Pay

Starting base salary of $155,000 to $170,000, plus bonus potential.
