Senior Software Engineer, AI Product

About the role

Vanta is a company dedicated to helping businesses earn and prove trust through continuous security monitoring and verification. This role is within the Applied AI Engineering team, which integrates AI into Vanta’s products to enhance customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI-powered features to deliver customer value and integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) with Vanta’s existing products and systems.
• Work with other product engineers to understand how AI systems can accelerate product adoption at Vanta.
• Collaborate with AI Platform engineers to shape foundational AI systems and tooling that support product teams.
• Mentor engineers, champion good technical and product instincts, and foster a collaborative, high-ownership engineering culture.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of industry experience as a software engineer.
• Experience shipping LLM-backed products and familiarity with prompting, RAG, and/or agent frameworks.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, and Node.js, or willingness to learn.
• Experience improving AI systems, creating evaluation sets, and driving quality improvement.
• Experience mentoring other engineers and collaborating with product and design teams.
• Experience working at rapidly scaling startups and large companies, especially those prioritizing a bias for action.
• Action-oriented, willing to roll up your sleeves and engage directly with users, and comfortable wearing both a product and engineering hat.

• Strong opinions, but a focus on building a platform that meets users where they are.

Skills

• Experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Experience with AI and machine learning concepts, including LLMs, prompting, RAG, and agent frameworks.
• Experience with full-stack application development, including backend systems, APIs, and frontend interfaces.
• Experience with evaluating, guarding, and monitoring AI systems, and driving quality improvements.
• Experience with mentoring and collaborating with product and design teams.
• Experience working in rapidly scaling startups and large companies, especially those prioritizing a bias for action.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a focus on delivering results.
