About the role

AvtechTyee is searching for a Senior Software Engineer with solid project management experience (full product life-cycle) and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude to help position our company for new growth and improved social responsibility. You will be working on the electronics engineering team, supporting product modification and new product development. Working on site at the facility is required, as in-person interactions are necessary to support and drive innovation, productivity, cross-functional collaboration, effective communication, team cohesion, and employee engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • 10+ years of embedded system programming.
  • Extensive experience with C and assembly language (a plus).
  • Experience with and understanding of real-time timing critical systems.
  • Experience with Analog to Digital systems for Audio or Video (a plus).
  • In-depth knowledge of DO-178 SW certification for Aerospace.
  • Experience participating in and preparing for SOI/Cert audits.
  • Experience writing DO-178 SW certification documents (PSAC, CIA, SAS).
  • Experience writing SW requirements/Design documentation and architecture diagrams.
  • Experience leading and managing SW projects including creating schedules and estimating cost.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (This position requires either a US Person as defined in applicable export regulations or a non-US person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply new concepts and techniques.
  • Identify areas where technical changes are required.
  • Define and lead problem-solving processes which support division goals and objectives.
  • Use technical capability and significant problem analysis to establish the most effective solution for complex problems that involve interaction of several technical disciplines.
  • Generate, evaluate, select, and implement solutions which are equal to the industry’s state of the art and which may not have prior application.
  • Improve technical processes, either independently or through cross-functional teams.
  • Apply and develop advanced methodologies and technologies requiring a high degree of technical innovation.
  • Provide technical insight to analyze risks and opportunities and adjust plans to minimize risk and maximize opportunity.
  • Recognize potential new products or opportunities and work primarily with staff, customers, and potential partners to influence technical and business impact.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of business strategy and strong knowledge of partners (sister divisions, contract resources) including products, customers, and contacts.
  • Coordinate significant issues with other organizations and develop measures to support initiatives and strategies.
  • Mentor others in the application of processes and tools.
  • Deliver significant technical contributions essential to the successful completion of projects.
  • Principal author or co-author of multiple project proposals which were selected for funding.
  • Write major portions of a complex technical report or a divisional strategy paper.
  • Successfully present to a division’s significant customer, division, or divisional management.
  • Effectively interact with customers, subcontractors, and divisional personnel on projects and proposals.
  • Act as a regular contact with people of substantially higher level both inside the company and with the customer to define technical requirements and present technical accomplishments.
  • Present, interpret, and recommend the results of work performed in developments such as new, broad technical approaches.
  • Act as an advocate to adopt these advances and to alter programs or redirect technical approaches.

Pay

The wage/salary range for this role is $155,000 - $190,000, depending on education and experience.
