About the role
The ACaMS Program Team is responsible for designing, developing, and realizing the next generation aero engine control system. This system aims to enhance efficiency, improve diagnostics, and protect against cyber threats through advanced architectural solutions. The team works on various components of the control system, including the Computing System, Health Monitoring System, and integration of Hydromechanical and Sensing/Control components. The team comprises diverse functional members such as Embedded Systems, Software, and Electronics Designers, along with Safety, Certification, Quality, Component, and Applications Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Develop safety-critical gas turbine engine control software to DO-178C compliance objectives
- Software architecting support to enable software-to-software integration and testing, including product line methodologies
- Set up and modify continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) frameworks to facilitate software development
- Liaison with certification airworthiness authorities to explain approaches, demonstrate compliance to objectives, and close out audit findings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (STEM) with 2+ years of experience in software engineering or computer engineering (development or testing)
- Master’s degree in Engineering with experience in software engineering
- PhD in Engineering
- U.S. Citizenship
- Experience in embedded safety critical software engineering and Control systems experience
- Familiarity with Model-based software design using Simulink
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded safety critical software engineering
- Experience with Python, C, C++, and/or Groovy
- Experience in defining, assessing, and modifying software architectures
- Experience with software life cycle (Requirements, Design, Verification and Release)
- Experience with integration (software/hardware and software/software) and component level testing
- Familiarity with verification and testing frameworks, such as Jenkins
- Experience in the design and development of DO-178C compliant embedded software solutions
- Experience with control of gas turbine engines
