About the Role

The Senior Electrical Engineer has technical leadership and responsibility over the design, development, and integration of innovative hardware into new medical device products. This includes defining high-level architecture and detailed embedded controls system design. The role involves solving complex controls system design problems while delivering products within schedule, cost, performance, quality, and reliability targets. The candidate must effectively interface with multiple engineering disciplines and demonstrate an understanding of designing products in a regulated environment (e.g., FDA requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Work as a collaborative team member on new product development projects in R&D to deliver innovative technical solutions.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to architect and design complex controls systems, subsystems, and subassemblies.
  • Select sensors, motors, valves, and associated controls required for the design.
  • Execute or support feasibility studies on hardware design options to determine optimum solutions or confirm system capabilities, quality, and reliability.
  • Develop cost-effective hardware designs to meet industry standards (e.g., IEC, NEC) and customer needs.
  • Develop component and system-level technical specifications to implement new product designs.
  • Build, modify, and/or test complex electrical design solutions for electronic circuitry, systems, sensors, and other hardware or control elements from functional system requirements.
  • Determine required tasks, durations, and materials needed to complete electrical team deliverables.
  • Prepare directions for designer support personnel to generate detail models, layouts, and drawings for components and electrical or electromechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Provide guidance to technicians, designers, and engineering peers in the development of R&D prototypes and design verification units.
  • Interact with vendors, suppliers, and engineering consultants to select components that comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Derive, interpret, and summarize engineering test data; prepare reports, charts, graphs, and other required documents.
  • Create test procedures and setups for design verification (electrical, thermal, EMC, etc.) to verify hardware performance against design inputs.
  • Prepare high-quality engineering documentation (e.g., calculations, system schematics, theory of operation, BOMs).
  • Support manufacturing transfer by identifying test requirements and appropriate test equipment and engineering tools required for production.
