HybridContract
Require ADP I or II clearance. 4 days a week onsite. Locations: Okemos or Farmington Hills, MI.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain UI and API automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Expand the existing Playwright framework and establish reusable fixtures, API clients, utilities, and coding standards.
- Create automated coverage for Angular applications and Java‑based REST APIs.
- Integrate and execute automated tests through Jenkins.
- Investigate failures using Playwright traces, application logs, network activity, API responses, and SQL.
- Validate application processing and data using Oracle SQL.
- Perform exploratory, functional, integration, regression, and risk‑based manual testing.
- Review requirements and acceptance criteria for gaps, edge cases, risks, and testability.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and testers throughout story development.
- Participate in code reviews and improve the reliability and maintainability of the automation suite.
- Identify flaky, redundant, slow, or low‑value tests and address their underlying causes.
AI‑Assisted Quality Engineering
- Generate and refine Playwright TypeScript tests for UI and API scenarios using GitHub Copilot and other approved AI tools.
- Identify missing scenarios, edge cases, negative paths, and requirement gaps.
- Accelerate test data creation, SQL queries, API requests, and reusable automation components.
- Analyze failures, logs, stack traces, and Playwright traces.
- Refactor repetitive, flaky, or difficult‑to‑maintain automation code.
- Create technical documentation, test summaries, and defect details.
- Understand unfamiliar application code and identify areas of testing risk.
- Share effective AI‑assisted testing practices with other team members.
- Accountability: SDETs must independently review all AI‑generated output for correctness, security, maintainability, test value, and alignment with established standards; AI‑generated code must not be accepted solely because it compiles or passes once.
Required Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience using Playwright with TypeScript for UI and API automation.
- Strong TypeScript programming fundamentals.
- Experience designing maintainable automation—not merely creating test scripts.
- Experience testing modern web applications, preferably Angular.
- Experience testing Java‑based REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of HTTP, REST, JSON, authentication, response validation, and negative API testing.
- SQL experience for backend data validation, preferably with Oracle.
- Experience executing automated tests through Jenkins or another CI/CD platform.
- Experience with Git‑based source control and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to diagnose failures across the UI, API, database, test code, test data, and environment layers.
- Experience with exploratory and manual testing in addition to automation.
- Ability to work independently and communicate defects and quality risks clearly.
