About the role

The Amazon Web Services EC2 team located in Herndon, VA is actively recruiting for experienced Senior Software Engineers interested in working on two new projects announced at re:invent; Outpost and Wavelength. Outpost brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operation models to virtually any data center, co-location space, or on-premises facilities. Wavelength brings AWS services to the edge of the 5G network, minimizing the latency to connect to an application from a mobile device. These are exciting, challenging new products that have the potential to re-define the industry.

What you'll do

• Own system architecture and development for product initiatives and feature development
• Learn and develop global web services, at scale
• Work with diverse teams throughout Amazon to deliver compute at the edge
• Build the future and have fun doing it
• Whip up a prototype to prove or disprove an idea
• Instrument code to report a new metric
• Talk with customers
• Code up a feature
• Draft a proposal for a radical new idea

Basic qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Pay

USA, VA, Arlington - $168,100.00 - $227,400.00 USD annually
