Senior Social Media Manager (Contractor Role)

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Social Media Manager (Contractor Role) to join the team of a leader in the Education, Government & Non-Profit space. This role will own the day-to-day social media presence and help shape how the organization shows up across key channels. The contractor will translate complex technical and community-driven work into clear, engaging content that builds audience growth, strengthens engagement, and supports broader brand and event goals. This position will partner closely with internal stakeholders and a global community to ensure messaging is accurate, timely, and aligned to the organization’s priorities. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $100,000 – $120,000 annually Responsibilities Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy tailored to various platforms Manage daily social media presence, including the editorial calendar and content publishing Promote open source projects and accurately communicate technical developments Highlight contributions from members and ambassadors, fostering community relationships Support and promote local and global events within the community Transform existing content into engaging social media posts to drive interaction Monitor and engage in conversations about the organization and the broader agentic AI ecosystem Exercise editorial judgment to prioritize content and ensure accuracy Qualifications 5+ years of experience in social media strategy for tech or open source organizations Proven track record of audience growth and engagement with measurable results Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics Familiarity with AI and open source, with a commitment to ongoing learning Experience in social listening and community engagement Strong organizational skills for managing multiple content sources and deadlines Proficiency with publishing and analytics tools, adaptable to various content formats Ability to collaborate with a global community across diverse cultures Benefits Flexible remote work environment Opportunity to work with a global community Engagement with cutting-edge AI and open source projects Chance to shape the social narrative of a growing organization Access to professional development resources and learning opportunities Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
