Senior Smart 3D Administrator

Relocation authorized: National - Family. Telework type: Full-Time (first 3 months office/project, then part-time telework requiring at least three days per week in-person at the assigned office or project in Knoxville, TN).

About the role

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company are delivering the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). As the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, Bechtel will provide design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant, as well as construction of the entire facility. This position supports the project and is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810, governing the transfer of technology for overseas nuclear power plants.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain Smart 3D (S3D) software settings, user roles, and permissions.
• Manage and troubleshoot software issues, including updates, patches, and licenses.
• Develop and enforce best practices for S3D usage, data standards, and workflows.
• Collaborate with IT teams for server maintenance, data backups, and system integrations.
• Apply knowledge of 3D, P&ID, and other engineering principles to integrate data with commercial-off-the-shelf and Bechtel Standard Application Program software (e.g., SmartPlant, Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, analysis software).
• Understand how upstream and downstream users are impacted by engineering data.
• Set up software for use by disciplines and functions.
• Develop and deploy reports, queries, material take-offs, and related outputs.
• Manage software inventory and licenses.
• Work with Engineering disciplines and other departments to identify and integrate data.
• Develop desktop instructions and procedures for data management, integration, quality, automation planning, etc.
• Collaborate with GBU Automation, Project Engineering, Functional Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Startup, IS&T, and Operations on engineering-related automation issues.
• Collaborate with product vendors to select appropriate software and licenses.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Engineering Group Supervisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering, IT, or related field and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
• Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Proficiency in S3D software administration and configuration.
• Significant experience in Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, Procurement, Automation, or Information Systems with a passion for implementing new and innovative work processes.
• Experience working with disciplines to maintain software versions and lists to ensure appropriate software is used.
• Experience with industry-wide database systems such as Access, Oracle, and SQL Server.

Preferred Qualifications

• Competency in developing programs, scripts, and routines using VB 6.0, .NET, or similar programming languages.
• Proficiency with data flow, data analysis, and information management techniques.
• Experience integrating/interfacing data between disparate systems and various data types (e.g., structured, unstructured, documents).
• Conversant knowledge of data security.
• Experience with Bechtel Software Application Programs.
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Virtual Design and Construction (VDC).
• Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., ASME NQA-1).
