Senior Service Engineer IS - Hybrid
About the role
Description Service Engineers work in partnership with developers, testers, and program managers, (typically early in the development process) to design, operate, grow, and improve large-scale, computer-based services offered to IS, non-IS and clinical caregivers. Their technical skills are on par with their Development, Test, and Program Management counterparts.
Responsibilities
- Own and operate our endpoint management platforms, including Microsoft Configuration Manager/SCCM, Microsoft Intune, and Jamf.
- Partner with endpoint engineering, service desk, application delivery, cybersecurity, and field support teams to design, scale, and operate the services that manage Windows and macOS devices across the organization.
- Own the full-service lifecycle, from platform health, infrastructure reliability, policy and configuration management, operating system deployment, Autopilot, Jamf workflows, compliance reporting, and automation, all while helping advance the organization toward secure, modern, and consistent endpoint operations.
- Use platform data, logs, and operational telemetry to quickly identify root cause, restore service, and ensure the fix sticks through durable automation, improved monitoring, and clear standards.
- Set technical direction, mentor other engineers, and shape the endpoint management roadmap—defining what “good” looks like for scalable device management, secure configuration, deployment reliability, and service performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering.
- Or equivalent education/experience.
- 5 years related experience; more preferred.
- Experience in automation, specifically related to deployment, recovery, or other manual processes.
- Experience with n-tier solutions.
- Experience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages for point solutions (automated) and platforms (manually).
- Experience influencing software engineering team members in translating customer and technical requirements into service architecture to meet Quality of Service Expectations.
- Experience leading and representing the Service in backlog discussions and standups to establish appropriate prioritization of Live Site requirements.
- Good experience leveraging data and metrics to drive behavior, process, and priority decisions. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Experience in problem solving using systematic procedures and investigating problems utilizing root cause analysis.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MEMCM/SCCM) & Intune for enterprise endpoint management, patch deployment, and software distribution.
- Strong experience in Windows Server administration and troubleshooting, including Windows patching, log analysis (Windows Update, Event Viewer), and root cause resolution.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation, including patch validation, reporting, system administration, and workflow automation.
- Experience automating deployment, patching, and operational processes using scripting, orchestration tools, or configuration management techniques.
- Familiarity with enterprise patch lifecycle processes, including Patch Tuesday operations, testing, deployment, and compliance tracking in large-scale environments.
- Basic knowledge of Linux systems administration and patching (YUM/APT, package management, shell scripting) is desirable.
- Experience working in large-scale, enterprise environments with compliance-driven operations and SLA-based patching or security standards.
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools (Power BI or similar) for operational reporting, dashboards, and compliance tracking.
- Hands on experience on DSC with Ansible (AWX) and integration with PowerBI reporting.
- Good to have experience on group policies and understanding on server hardening and CIS benchmarking with DSC and other tools like GPO.
