Role and Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, build, test, and launch of proprietary Bloom Energy manufacturing equipment.
- Lead design and supplier management of novel, fully custom automation systems designed for Bloom’s manufacturing process.
- Lead and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of Bloom equipment.
- Collaborate with process and design teams to define equipment specifications.
- Apply engineering fundamentals to automation and process design.
- Collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Engineering teams to refine product design and improve manufacturability.
- Oversee the entire equipment development lifecycle, from concept to manufacturing.
- Oversee equipment build and test processes.
- Ensure equipment quality assurance throughout development and implementation.
- Work with facility and maintenance engineers to install and support equipment in the factory.
Minimum Qualifications
- BSc or advanced degree in mechanical, physics or related engineering field.
- 4+ years of experience in equipment design, automation, and integration in high volume manufacturing and/or scale up.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
- Experience with supplier management and remote team collaboration.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to travel internationally up to 15%.
- Familiar with process engineering fundamentals (Cp, CpK, etc.) and SPC.
- Working proficiency in SolidWorks.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in high-volume solar, back-end semiconductor and/or battery manufacturing machine design and process design.
- Experience with handling thin ceramics.
- Experience with dispensing and jetting of engineered inks and adhesives.
- C++ knowledge is a plus.
