Senior Sensor Validation Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Sensor Validation Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space. This role will focus on validating advanced sensing technologies that support vehicle performance, safety, and autonomy. You will develop and execute test strategies across bench, vehicle, and road environments, working closely with perception and hardware design teams to resolve system-level issues. The position combines hands-on engineering, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to advance next-generation sensor modules from characterization through vehicle integration. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $153,200 – $234,100 annually Responsibilities Develop characterization plans for next-generation sensors, including camera, lidar, and radar Create vehicle validation tests for performance and safety in autonomous environments Plan and execute on-vehicle data collection on closed courses and public roads Evaluate low-level sensor performance metrics such as SNR and dynamic range Transition validated sensor modules from bench setups to vehicle platforms Collaborate with perception and hardware design teams to address system-level issues Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience accepted 5+ years of experience in sensor validation, characterization, or test engineering for optical, lidar, or radar systems Proven ability to design vehicle-level validation tests Experience with L4 autonomous vehicles and their validation needs Strong knowledge of sensor physics principles, including optics, electromagnetics, and wave propagation Hands-on experience with benchtop characterization and on-vehicle validation Proficiency in data analysis and programming languages such as Python and MATLAB Benefits Comprehensive health and wellbeing programs including medical, dental, and vision Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Accounts Retirement savings plan and life insurance Paid vacation and holidays Tuition assistance programs and an employee assistance program Vehicle discounts Relocation benefits for qualifying candidates Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
