Senior Sensor Fusion Engineer - Autonomous Vehicles
About the role
We are looking for a strong engineer to help craft and guide the future of our autonomous driving solution. In this role, you will contribute to providing a complete 3D world model by fusing signals between map and perception. You will work closely with our perception and planning teams to create a world model capable of handling the most challenging roads and intersections in the U.S. and China. This role is central to our vision in autonomous vehicles and offers a breadth of interesting areas to explore.
Are you interested in inventing human-level AI for navigation in unconstrained environments under any conditions? If so, join us!
Responsibilities
- Develop core functionality for autonomous driving in all geographies based on the fusion of state-of-the-art perception DNN and map signals.
- Generate real-time 3D world models utilized by planning, incorporating inputs from sensors and external sources.
- Enable HD mapless driving in complex urban scenarios by creating enriched BEV models of the world.
- Enable L3 level autonomy in highway scenarios by building accurate, reliable, and safe models of the world from camera, lidar, radar perception, and map signals.
- Build fused static obstacles and occupancy grids, and create occlusion masks to enrich AV scenarios.
- Act as a technology leader by guiding the team on approaches to solve the hardest AV problems while being a hands-on collaborator.
- Mentor strong engineers within the team.
- Ensure algorithms perform well on large amounts of real and synthetic data across diverse environments and conditions.
- Produce code and designs following automotive quality and safety standards.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience, with at least 2+ years in the AV or robotics industry.
