Senior Security Specialist
Location: Huntsville, AL (remote position with Huntsville as preferred location; must have access to classified facilities close to location)
About the Role
SAIC is seeking a Senior Security Specialist to support the OSD Multi-Service Advanced Capabilities Hypersonic Test Bed (MACH-XL) Program. The role involves creating, analyzing, implementing, and updating security policies, procedures, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, and materials. A strong background in Information and Operations Security, along with experience with DoD Security Classification Guides, is required. The successful candidate will be a proactive, forward-learning self-starter with exceptional judgment to interface with stakeholders at all levels.
Responsibilities
- Develop a security program and provide recommendations and corrective actions as required.
- Enforce policies for document and access controls, transmission of sensitive information and materials, and related information controls and safeguards.
- Generate and update training packages to ensure personnel are informed of security requirements (e.g., OPSEC briefings).
- Work with the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) to review and clear documents for release.
- Support and advise meetings and briefings for events.
- Understand participant program Security Classification Guides (SCGs) to provide security guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Help develop an SCG for the Multi-Service Advanced Capabilities Hypersonic (MACH)-XL program.
- Provide security guidance and planning for flight test activities.
- Review annual security training requirements.
- Assist with maintenance and processing of Security Information Files.
- Draft or prepare documents such as responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related materials.
- Process security-related documentation, including issuance of access and/or identification credentials and other access control documents.
- Handle security incidents.
- Provide cybersecurity guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and ten or more years of related security experience.
- Knowledge of DoD guidance on classified materials handling, destruction, storage, and CUI/S classification categories.
- Prior security role for DoD (OSD or Navy preferred).
- Experience with NISPOM and OPNAVAVINST 2221.5D (Release of Communications Security Material to U.S. Industrial firms under contract to the Department of the Navy).
- Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer service-oriented with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience writing SOPs, procedures, and processes.
- Must be able to obtain Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with OUSD R&E Hypersonics for Military Systems and Applications Security Classification Guide (SCG).
- Familiarity with Navy Conventional Prompt Strike SCG.
- Cybersecurity background or some technical experience.
Schedule
- Full-time, day shift.
- Travel required (50% of the time).
