Work Schedule
- Scheduled hours are from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm with rotating days and weekends off.
- Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
- You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.
Pay
- Overtime
- Weekend, evening & night shift differential
- For evening hours - after 3:00 pm you will earn an additional $3.00/hr.
- For night hours - after 11:00 pm you will earn an additional $4.00/hr.
- On Saturday and Sunday, you will earn an additional $3.25/hr.
Qualifications
- No minimum education required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree.
- Required 18 months of UW Health Security Officer or comparable experience.
- Must possess a current, valid driver’s license issued by the individual’s state of residence.
- Must be at least 21 years old and have a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience to operate a Personal Vehicle, Patient/Visitor Vehicle, or standard UW Health Fleet Vehicle.
- Required Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Required IAHSS Advanced Certification within 6 months.
- Required IAHSS Basic Certification.
- Preferred IAHSS Advanced Certification.

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Security Officer to:
- Act as an Officer in Charge and respond to leaders across UW Health by overseeing day to day operations of the shift in the absence of a Supervisor.
- Properly document daily activities and write detailed and at times lengthy incident reports using computer software programs.
- Serve as a positive example and provide consistent training, coaching, and evaluation of new officers as part of the department’s field training program.
- Monitor and operate access control systems, security camera systems, intercoms, two-way radios, telephones, and alarm systems.
