Senior Security Engineer, Security Engineering & Operations

About the role

The Security Engineering & Operations team (SecEngOps) within Infrastructure Security helps protect Block systems, users, and customers. This team collaborates with other InfoSec, Compliance, and Partner Product teams to ensure security, monitor operations, and respond to incidents.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, cloud-native security data pipelines and detection systems
• Collaborate with the team to strengthen security posture through detection engineering reviews, threat scenario design, and contributing to Kubernetes and cloud-native security controls
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure rapid response and continuous protection for platform and customers

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience as a programmer, developer, SWE, or similar job roles
• A strong interest in security and growing your career in InfoSec
• Comfortable working with outside teams to address problems and determine priorities
• Experience using cloud-native technologies for data processing
• Experience working in or with SRE or security detection and response teams
• Programming Languages: Ruby, Go, Java

Qualifications

• Google Cloud Platform products such as Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and Google Kubernetes Engine
• Amazon Web Services products such as Cloudtrail, Simple Queue Service, Simple Notification Service, and Lambda

Skills

• Experience in security engineering and operations
• Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in programming languages relevant to the role

Pay

Starting pay range varies based on location and experience, ranging from $153,000 to $270,000 USD.
