About the role

Finds employment with Inter-Con Security Systems, Inc., a leading global security company founded in 1973. Works for the General Motors account, supervising security/fire staff at assigned sites, traveling as necessary. Assures compliance with General Motors Global Security Manual, local site-specific Standard Operating Procedures, and Supplier Standard Operating Procedures and Policy Manual.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor to security supervisors and officers
  • Ensures compliance with General Motors Global Security Manual, local site-specific Standard Operating Procedures, and Supplier Standard Operating Procedures and Policy Manual
  • Evaluates risks and ensures adequate coverage for assigned General Motors site(s)
  • Advises management of emergency situations and ensures subordinates respond appropriately
  • Researches and makes recommendations on the implementation of the best demonstrated practices and other key initiatives
  • Interfaces with plant/site management regarding security and fire prevention services
  • Assists in the selection, orientation, development, and retention of staff in compliance with Government regulations
  • Provides emergency response advice to management and ensures security staff respond to emergencies appropriately
  • Ensures Security staff deployment schedules are developed to meet General Motors requirements
  • Ensures security staff is trained to perform General Motors requirements
  • Conducts quarterly and annual reviews utilizing the Security Compliance System
  • Maintains Corrective Actions and Recommendations
  • Conducts annual site vulnerability assessment to ensure General Motors compliance and provides recommendation on operations, policy, and technology applications to plant/site management
  • Ensures General Motors is billed accurately for Security Services
  • Conducts weekly billing audit to ensure compliance
  • Maintains effective communication with outside emergency responders
  • Ensures the correct and consistent administration of the General Motors/Supplier Service Agreement
  • Ensures compliance with all General Motors Labor Agreements
  • Maintain data and records following General Motors Record Retention guidelines and requirements
  • Maintains basic first aid and CPR certifications
  • Ensures hot work permit process is properly administered and maintained
  • May supervise security staff in fire functions
  • Reports to designated site management/GM Global Security
  • Completes and provides follow up as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Five years of progressively responsible, security related experience required- seven years preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of security operations required
  • Strong analytical skills needed to analyze complex data and develop reasonable analysis, appropriate conclusions and/or innovative solutions
  • Strong managerial skills and the ability to assert oneself
  • Ability to act decisively in emergency situations
  • Ability to physically respond to all medical emergencies
  • Ability to assist in facilitating progressive change
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
  • Strong diplomacy skills and sensitivity protocol
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and utilize sound judgment
  • Working knowledge of card access, security, and safety systems
  • Demonstrated excellent computer ability (Microsoft programs)
