About the role
Finds employment with Inter-Con Security Systems, Inc., a leading global security company founded in 1973. Works for the General Motors account, supervising security/fire staff at assigned sites, traveling as necessary. Assures compliance with General Motors Global Security Manual, local site-specific Standard Operating Procedures, and Supplier Standard Operating Procedures and Policy Manual.
Responsibilities
- Mentor to security supervisors and officers
- Ensures compliance with General Motors Global Security Manual, local site-specific Standard Operating Procedures, and Supplier Standard Operating Procedures and Policy Manual
- Evaluates risks and ensures adequate coverage for assigned General Motors site(s)
- Advises management of emergency situations and ensures subordinates respond appropriately
- Researches and makes recommendations on the implementation of the best demonstrated practices and other key initiatives
- Interfaces with plant/site management regarding security and fire prevention services
- Assists in the selection, orientation, development, and retention of staff in compliance with Government regulations
- Provides emergency response advice to management and ensures security staff respond to emergencies appropriately
- Ensures Security staff deployment schedules are developed to meet General Motors requirements
- Ensures security staff is trained to perform General Motors requirements
- Conducts quarterly and annual reviews utilizing the Security Compliance System
- Maintains Corrective Actions and Recommendations
- Conducts annual site vulnerability assessment to ensure General Motors compliance and provides recommendation on operations, policy, and technology applications to plant/site management
- Ensures General Motors is billed accurately for Security Services
- Conducts weekly billing audit to ensure compliance
- Maintains effective communication with outside emergency responders
- Ensures the correct and consistent administration of the General Motors/Supplier Service Agreement
- Ensures compliance with all General Motors Labor Agreements
- Maintain data and records following General Motors Record Retention guidelines and requirements
- Maintains basic first aid and CPR certifications
- Ensures hot work permit process is properly administered and maintained
- May supervise security staff in fire functions
- Reports to designated site management/GM Global Security
- Completes and provides follow up as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Five years of progressively responsible, security related experience required- seven years preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of security operations required
- Strong analytical skills needed to analyze complex data and develop reasonable analysis, appropriate conclusions and/or innovative solutions
- Strong managerial skills and the ability to assert oneself
- Ability to act decisively in emergency situations
- Ability to physically respond to all medical emergencies
- Ability to assist in facilitating progressive change
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
- Strong diplomacy skills and sensitivity protocol
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and utilize sound judgment
- Working knowledge of card access, security, and safety systems
- Demonstrated excellent computer ability (Microsoft programs)
