Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Scrum Master to join their team in New York, NY. This individual will support a Field Experience value stream and play a critical role in driving Agile delivery excellence across technology and business teams. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, extensive Scrum Master experience, and a passion for coaching teams toward high performance while fostering Agile maturity and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead Agile project delivery efforts from inception through implementation within a complex technology environment
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and PI planning activities
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to Scrum teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile principles and best practices
- Support Product Owners in backlog refinement, prioritization, and maintenance
- Represent teams in Scrum of Scrums and other cross-functional planning and coordination activities
- Monitor team velocity, predictability, and other Agile performance metrics
- Identify, escalate, and remove impediments impacting delivery success
- Mentor teams across development, testing, business analysis, DevOps, UAT, and integration disciplines
- Promote adoption and effective use of Agile tools including JIRA, Confluence, and Ativo
- Guide teams on leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, planning, and documentation
- Foster collaboration, accountability, and self-organization across teams
- Support Agile transformation initiatives and contribute to organizational Agile Communities of Practice
- Ensure transparency and communication of project progress, risks, and delivery outcomes to stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 8+ years of experience as a Scrum Master
- Experience within insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated environments
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development, testing, business analysis, DevOps, UAT, or related disciplines prior to Scrum Master responsibilities
- Extensive experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and Program Increment (PI) planning
- Proven ability to coach Agile teams toward higher performance and delivery effectiveness
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experience identifying delivery risks, process gaps, and implementing remediation strategies
- Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and other Agile project management tools
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Scrum Master certification
- Experience with Ativo and Microsoft Copilot
- Experience mentoring teams on AI-enabled tools and productivity solutions
- Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) project experience
- Life insurance industry experience
- Experience facilitating large-scale workshops and cross-functional planning sessions
- Demonstrated success supporting Agile transformations in enterprise organizations

Schedule
- Hybrid schedule requiring three days onsite per week
- Standard work schedule of 37.5 hours per week
- Six-month contract with potential extension based on performance, attendance, and business needs
Pay
The approximate pay range for this position is between $38.00 and $55.00 per hour. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
