Responsibilities
- Leads the planning, execution, and oversight of research projects.
- Trains and supervises technical and scientific staff.
- Demonstrates detailed knowledge of Undersea Medicine principles and theories.
- Designs and implements experimental protocols.
- Collaborates on the development of new grant and funding applications.
- Makes significant contributions to scientific literature and conferences.
- Prepares publication-ready manuscripts and finalizes reports for submission to scientific journals and patent applications.
- Collects, processes, and interprets experimental data.
- Serves as an in-house subject matter expert to UMD leadership on all aspects of DoW project planning, budget, and execution.
- Assists UMD leadership in budget plans/forecasts, preparation, approval, and monitoring.
Qualifications
- Doctoral Degree required.
- More than 10 years of experience required.
- Experience directly managing a DoW research portfolio preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable highly complex scientific procedures and techniques.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures.
- Strong leadership skills.
Physical Capabilities
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $127,000-$175,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
