About the role

BeOne Institute extends BeOne’s execution strength with a dedicated innovation engine, bringing agility and scientific depth to transform uncertainty into actionable, high‑impact therapeutic opportunities. Operating under three core principles—Bold Exploration, Strategic Alignment, and Pipeline Impact—the Senior Scientist will apply advanced mass spectrometry technologies to uncover novel biological insights, enable emerging therapeutic modalities, and develop innovative screening and characterization approaches for drug discovery at the San Carlos, CA site.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute creatively to Institute research by generating ideas, challenging assumptions, and advancing innovative scientific projects.
  • Design and execute mass spectrometry‑based studies to address biological questions, support emerging therapeutic modalities, and enable drug discovery research.
  • Develop, optimize, and apply mass spectrometry‑based screening, proteomics, and analytical workflows to support compound discovery, target identification, target engagement, mechanism‑of‑action studies, and pathway biology.
  • Evaluate and implement new mass spectrometry technologies, workflows, and applications to enhance scientific and technical capabilities.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and continuously improve mass spectrometry platforms to ensure robust analytical performance and high‑quality data generation.
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate mass spectrometry data, translating analytical results into meaningful biological and drug discovery insights.
  • Collaborate closely with scientists across biology, chemistry, and related disciplines to develop fit‑for‑purpose analytical approaches and support multidisciplinary research efforts.
  • Maintain high‑quality experimental records and documentation, and stay current with advances in mass spectrometry, analytical technologies, and related scientific fields.
  • Serve as a contact for external CRO partners when needed.
  • Provide matrix or line‑function leadership for project teams when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 2+ years (Ph.D.), 4+ years (M.S.), or 5+ years (B.S.) of relevant industry, academic, or postdoctoral experience; Ph.D. strongly preferred.
  • Strong foundation in mass spectrometry with hands‑on experience operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing LC‑MS instrumentation.
  • Experience developing and implementing mass spectrometry‑based analytical, screening, and/or proteomics workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply mass spectrometry approaches to address biological questions and support drug discovery research.
  • Experience with quantitative proteomics and/or other MS‑based approaches for protein identification, characterization, interaction analysis, or pathway interrogation.
  • Experience developing and optimizing sample preparation, chromatography, and mass spectrometry methods for biological applications.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to derive meaningful conclusions from complex mass spectrometry datasets.
  • Ability to troubleshoot analytical challenges and contribute creative solutions to technical and scientific problems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with scientists across biology, chemistry, and related disciplines to develop fit‑for‑purpose analytical approaches.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate scientific findings to multidisciplinary teams
