About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Senior Scientist with experience in hematology oncology and a track record of scientific excellence to join our team in Waltham, MA, USA. As a Senior Scientist, you will lead hands-on research to evaluate the efficacy and mechanisms of small molecules in hematology oncology, generating robust pharmacology datasets that directly impact the oncology drug discovery pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Develop, design, conduct, and analyze in vivo experiments to assess PK/PD/efficacy relationships and the function of novel cancer therapeutics.
- Collaborate across multiple project teams and scientific disciplines to advance drug projects.
- Use software programs and databases, including AI platforms, to capture study data and perform data mining.
- Stay current with scientific and technical expertise in cancer biology and pharmacology through literature review and conference attendance.
- Provide independent data analysis, troubleshooting, and interpretation.
- Manage timelines for study delivery and proactively communicate within the in vivo team and broader organization.
- Apply molecular and cellular biology techniques such as immunoblotting, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, MSD/ELISA assay development, and in vivo PD assays (e.g., qPCR, MSD, ELISA) for biomarker evaluation from tumor, tissue, bone marrow, blood, and urine samples.
- Balance time at the bench, in the vivarium, and on project responsibilities.
Requirements
- PhD with 3+ years of research experience in academia, biotechnology, or the pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful data and lead multiple projects from an in vivo perspective.
- Strong hands-on experience developing and working with oncology in vivo mouse models, including xenografts (subcutaneous and disseminated models).
- Proficiency in handling rodents (mice required, rats preferred) and performing oral, intraperitoneal, and intravenous dosing.
- Experience with multiple rodent strains, including NSG mice, C57BL6 mice, and SRG rats.
- Ability to deliver in vivo pharmacology data packages for small molecule programs, including dose-finding tolerability studies, PK/PD, and efficacy studies.
- Complex mouse model development experience (highly desirable).
- Familiarity with software programs such as GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Office suite, and in vivo data capture systems.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in biotech or pharma.
- Expertise in multiple myeloma, lymphoma, or acute myelogenous leukemia biology and/or rodent models.
- Hands-on experience with small animal imaging modalities such as bioluminescence imaging (IVIS).
- Strong publication track record.
- Hands-on experience with spectral flow cytometry.
- Experience in assay development for complex systems (e.g., in vivo samples, ex vivo 3D cultures, ex vivo co-cultures).

Pay
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $116,284.00 to $174,426.00.
