Senior Scientist
About the role
The Senior Scientist will join the Analytical R&D Department at MilliporeSigma at our Life Sciences R&D facility in St. Louis. In this role, you will be part of an active, multidisciplinary group of scientists dedicated to providing high-level analytical support to product development scientists in R&D, manufacturing groups, and special project teams. You will lead development of LC-MS assays for the quantitation of proteins in complex mixtures and perform advanced characterization of large biomolecules including monoclonal antibodies, multi-specifics, and antibody drug conjugates.
Role must be based in St. Louis, MO. This role does not offer sponsorship for work authorization; external applicants must be eligible to work in the US.
Qualifications
- BS in Chemistry or related field plus 5-7+ years of experience with demonstrated hands-on proficiency with advanced instrumentation, including high resolution and/or triple quadrupole LC-MS platforms
- OR a master’s degree with 3-5+ years of stated above experience
- OR a PhD with 0-1+ years of stated above experience
- Advanced experience with a variety of enzymatic and chemical methods of sample preparation for large biomolecule LC-MS, such as digestion, enrichment, depletion, and labelling or related
- Experience working and communicating effectively both independently and in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in absolute quantitation of proteins and antibodies by Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) and/or Parallel Reaction Monitoring (PRM) mass spectrometry
- Experience in bottom up, middle up/down, and/or top-down protein LC-MS workflows
- Experience with specific workflows such as non-reduced and reduced intact mass analysis, peptide mapping, disulfide mapping, Post-Translational Modifications (PTM) characterization, glycosylation profiling, and/or free thiol analysis
- Experience with bioinformatics related to the quantitation and characterization of large biomolecules such as UNIFI, BioPharma Finder, Mascot, and Scaffold
- Proficiency in a variety of instrument platforms such as Thermo, Sciex, Waters, and Agilent mass spectrometers
- Hands-on experience with MALDI-MS
Pay
Pay range for this position: $105,500 - $158,300. The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses.
