Position Summary

At Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute, our renowned cardiologists, heart and vascular surgeons, and cardiovascular professionals work together to provide award-winning care in 40 specialties, using the latest in diagnostic imaging and treatment options. Our multidisciplinary team includes more than 70 physicians in 24 locations across Central Florida, spanning Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Highlands and Okeechobee counties. As a part of Orlando Health, the Heart and Vascular Institute includes a network of community and specialty hospitals with more than 4,000 providers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate departmental schedules.
  • Provide feedback to manager for human resources functions such as hiring, coaching, and counseling.
  • Accurately gather and input patient demographic information, insurance verification/authorization, and schedule.
  • Accurately communicate prep information, arrival time, and arrival location to patients.
  • Input and distribute charge management process on a daily basis.
  • Communicate all changes to appropriate staff.
  • Review schedules daily and communicate changes.
  • Act as a liaison to the clinical and business staff to ensure effective and efficient patient management.
  • Assist in training or mentoring of all team members.
  • Provide accurate information of department/procedure specific scheduling criteria to expedite patient preparation, arrival location, and time.
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Monitor workload each day and prioritize based on department.
  • Accurately use medical terminology, multi-line phones, and word processing/spreadsheet applications.
  • Regularly communicate with Patient Access and clinical departments regarding registration and scheduling issues.
  • Take a proactive role in problem resolution.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and medical terminology and/or basic anatomy training required.
  • Associate’s degree in Business, information systems, clinical field, or related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in clinical registration and scheduling.
