Senior SAP Plant Maintenance Consultant
About the role
As a Senior Consultant, you will be a key player in the consulting team that helps discover and define the problem statement, evaluates solution options, and makes recommendations. You will create detailed design, architecture, and process artifacts and implement the deployment plan. You will also support knowledge transfer with the objective of providing value-adding consulting solutions that enable our clients to meet the changing needs of the global landscape.
This position may require travel to project/client locations. The role may involve elevated access to Impact Level 4 (IL4) data and/or security requirements for handling controlled unclassified information (CUI) and sensitive data as defined by the US Department of Defense (DoD). Eligible candidates must be US citizens or Permanent Residents only.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, deploy, and maintain Plant Maintenance MRO processes as part of a multi-ERP financial consolidation and harmonization initiative.
- Focus on SAP PM module to support the entire lifecycle of equipment and assets, including:
- Maintenance planning (preventive and corrective)
- Maintenance processing (work orders, notifications)
- Equipment management (master data, hierarchy, performance monitoring)
- Spare parts and resource planning
- Conduct standup and health check reviews of overnight functional batch jobs (success, runtime, exceptions).
- Triage tickets: missing IDocs, data mismatches, shared component conflicts, substitution handling, and rework flows.
- Align with FICO, PP, OTC, MM/Procurement, and ABAP/Fiori teams on priorities.
- Adjust configuration settings and analyze impact on workflow.
- Draft or update functional specs for enhancements.
- Coordinate with procurement on shared components across projects and priority decisions.
- Validate end-to-end test cases, re-run jobs for scenario validation, and verify relationships in Fiori/GUI reports.
- Check master data completeness and tune job variants/scope to improve runtime and stability.
- Perform root-cause analysis (data vs. config vs. sequencing of jobs) and provide quick mitigations (e.g., manual allocation override) and permanent fixes (config, enhancements, training).
- Demo outcomes, explain decisions (e.g., why allocation shifted to Project A), and update runbooks, solution design docs, test evidence, and knowledge base entries for recurring issues.
- Plan next steps for defects, enhancements, and upcoming release items.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution. Three years of progressive experience in the specialty may substitute for each year of education.
- At least 4 years of experience with Information Technology.
- Deep SAP functional knowledge in procurement of spare parts and subcontracting processes, integration with production plans, and post-maintenance cost management.
- Proven hands-on exposure to Central Finance architecture and replication.
- Strong cross-functional and integration skills.
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills via telephone, email, or face-to-face.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in strategic MRO planning and forecasting.
- Hands-on experience with SAP PM module and its integration with other SAP modules (FICO, PP, OTC, MM/Procurement).
Pay
- In CA, WA, NY, CO, MD, IL, MN, NJ: $73,000 to $102,200
- In Washington, DC: $66,500 to $100,300
