Senior Sales and Proposal Engineer

What You'll Do

• In conjunction with the Sales Managers, Engineering Department and Automation Department, determines which references will be used for equipment and for cost.
• Manages proposal writing and editing.
• Manages sales calls and attends sales functions, as required.
• Manages layout work for proposal preparation.
• Manages proposal, metallurgical and process calculations.
• Project coordination with team members in the proposal stage.
• Coordinates engineering work for proposal preparation.
• Prepare and edit cost estimates for proposed project.
• Technical presentation of proposals to prospective customers.
• Technical presentation of SMS group to prospective customers.
• Contact and coordination with main mechanical vendors for proposal purposes.
• Inter-departmental or inter-company contacts concerning proposals.
• Developing and executing marketing strategy for NAFTA region customers, including customer communications and visits.
• Identifying potential projects (new equipment and aftermarket), selecting appropriate technologies, and developing technical and commercial specifications.
• Project management of the company’s NAFTA contracts including customer and supplier liaison.
• Customer support / liaison of the company’s domestic references.
• Approximately 15-20% travel required for customer and supplier visits or internal company meetings.

What You'll Need

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgical degree required.
• Minimum 10 years experience working with industrial steelmaking and/or continuous casting technology, in solidification, heat transfer, thermodynamics, heat processing / melting applications. Steelmaking and/or continuous casting process engineering experience is required.
• Combustion and process design experience and competence a plus.
• Candidates must be self-motivated and display creativity, strong problem-solving skills, and work well in a diverse team environment.
• Excellent computer skills, with a strong emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
