Senior Safety, Health, And Environmental (SHE) Specialist
About the role
This is an exciting and challenging position for a motivated individual to join the Intelligence & Security Sector as the Safety, Health, & Environment (SHE) Specialist Sr within our Integrated Sensing & Flight Systems Business Unit. This position will be based out of our manufacturing / aviation facility in Mojave, CA. Reporting to the Sr. Manager for Safety, Health & Environment that supports the Air & Space Force Solutions Business. This role will collaborate with the larger SHE Department to provide technical and professional support to BAE Systems managers and employees to improve the Safety / Health of our employees, ensure Environmental risks are mitigated and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Work with management, staff, and hourly employees to promote the development of a safety, health, and environmental culture that exhibits the behaviors and processes outlined in the BAE Systems SHE management systems
- Lead and execute incident investigations with line management and various levels of professionals and skilled workers within the organization
- Lead Root Cause Analysis, utilizing defined methodologies to identify causes and preventive measures
- Report or review findings from incident investigations, inspections, or other applicable information to senior leadership
- Lead Management of Change and Risk Assessment / Review processes
- Lead efforts in getting the facilities aligned to ISO-14001 & 45001
- Develop schedules for inspecting facilities, machinery, and equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety and health regulation compliance
- Afford assistance with the on-going development and management of the sector SHE Management System. Prepare and update procedures and work instructions
- Prepare or review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment in order to determine if safety health and environmental requirements have been met
- Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, and temperature levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations
- Execute required company and regulatory and company training to management staff and employees
- Afford assistance with interaction with Federal, State, and Local regulators during inspections
Requirements
- Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety or equivalent field
- 4 or more years' experience in manufacturing, production, aviation or industrial environments
- Thorough knowledge of various EHS regulations (CalOSHA/OSHA/EPA/NFPA/DOT)
- Basic / Working knowledge of various EHS Mgmt System Frameworks (ISO-14001 & 45001)
- Basic / Working knowledge of TSCA and FMSCA requirements / regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization (verbally & written)
- Ability to work in a team environment Manage time efficiently with little supervision
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prepare/present survey analyses to all employee groups.
- Ability to coach/consult with line management at all levels relative to building a culture and processes that lead to excellent SHE performance
- Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- OHST / GSP / ASP / CSP certification
- Hold or ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
Qualifications
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
