About the role

Fresche Solutions is a trusted partner for organizations seeking to modernize their IBM i systems. As a Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in transforming legacy applications into scalable, modern solutions.

Responsibilities

• Consult and collaborate with clients to resolve application issues and deliver solutions across the project lifecycle.
• Architect and develop applications using RPG and SQL, ensuring quality through thorough testing phases.
• Document and communicate system architecture effectively, bridging technical and non-technical audiences.
• Lead a small technical team and conduct code reviews for database and logic changes.
• Help clients modernize legacy applications into ILE solutions.

Requirements

• Extensive experience on the IBM i platform, with a proven track record of solving business problems.
• Advanced proficiency in RPG, including RPGLE, free-form syntax, and embedded SQL.
• Expert-level skills in DB2 application programming and database design.
• Strong understanding of modern ILE concepts, including modules, service programs, and binding directories.
• Experience with change management processes, including structured deployment and version control.
• Effective communication skills, able to explain both technical and business aspects clearly.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with major IBM i ERP systems such as Infor LX, BPCS, Infor XA, MAPICS, PRMS, JDE, Frontier, HFA, and others.
• Background in distribution, manufacturing, finance, or insurance applications.
• Experience with RDi or other Eclipse-based IDEs, and familiarity with Git or SVN in an IBM i environment.
• Comfortable with impact analysis tools and integration work involving APIs, JSON, XML, and tools like GoAnywhere.
