Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst - Remote - FS432

The Impact You’ll Make

• Support our clients in resolving application issues, identify business needs, and deliver solutions throughout the full project life cycle.
• Analyze, design, code, and test software applications using all versions of RPG and SQL.
• Ensure program and application integrity through various testing phases (Unit, Integration, Smoke, etc.).
• Document and communicate system architecture to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Lead a small technical team when required, and conduct code reviews for database and logic changes.
• Support clients in transforming legacy business applications into modern, scalable ILE applications.

What You Bring to the Table

• Expertise: 20+ years of proven experience with the IBM i (iSeries/AS/400) platform.
• Advanced RPG: Mastery of various forms of RPG (especially RPGLE, including Free-form syntax and embedded SQL).
• Database Depth: Expert-level DB2 application programming and database design.
• Modern Concepts: Deep understanding of ILE concepts (Modules, Service Programs, Binding Directories).
• Change Management: Experience navigating structured deployment and version control processes.
• Communication: Capable of verbal and written communication with various levels of client personnel, explaining technical "why" to stakeholders in business terms and "how" to developers in technical terms.

Nice to Have

• Experience with major IBM I ERP systems (Infor LX, BPCS, Infor XA, MAPICS, PRMS, JDE, Frontier, HFA, etc.)
• Applications: Distribution, Manufacturing, Finance, Insurance.
• Tooling: Experience with RDi (Rational Developer for i) or Eclipse-based IDEs.
• Modern DevOps: Familiarity with Git or SVN in an IBM i environment.
• Analysis: Experience with Impact Analysis tools.
• Integrations: Experience with integration solutions using APIs, JSON, XML and other integration tools such as GoAnywhere.
