Senior Roadway Project Manager

Stantec is seeking a motivated Senior Roadway Project Manager to join our team in Atlanta, GA. This role focuses on designing and managing roadway improvement projects, primarily for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and local clients such as cities, counties, and Community Improvement Districts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary client liaison for key transportation clients, including GDOT, Metro Atlanta cities, counties, and CIDs, while identifying new opportunities through strategic planning.
• Track and pursue potential projects (conventional design, Design-Build, P3) by maintaining strong client relationships and collaborating with teaming partners.
• Expand Stantec’s client base by targeting new transportation accounts and leading pursuit efforts, including database management, client meetings, proposal preparation, and interviews.
• Collaborate with marketing and business development teams to develop winning value propositions and themes through client engagement and strategic planning.
• Provide technical oversight during proposals, including hands-on participation in scope, fee, and schedule negotiations.
• Lead the identification of key teaming partners and foster collaboration across disciplines and geographies to grow Stantec’s market share.
• Engage in professional societies (ACEC, ASHE, ITE) through committee roles and leadership, and participate in external marketing initiatives like conferences and training.
• Manage roadway design projects as Project Manager, including Design-Build pursuits, coordinating with design teams, subconsultants, and vendors to ensure projects stay on schedule and budget.
• Drive continuous improvement in QA/QC processes and promote cost-effective project delivery.
• Conduct formal reviews of large or complex transportation projects to identify and mitigate risks.
• Champion a safety culture, including the use of risk management systems (RMS), to support a “zero safety incident” goal.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise roadway design staff, providing input on performance reviews, compensation, and bonuses.
• Encourage collaboration and cross-training among transportation staff across regional offices.
• Mentor junior staff on roadway design, plans presentation, CAD structure, and other technical aspects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in roadway improvement project design and management, preferably in Georgia.
• Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
• Primarily office-based role with occasional fieldwork, client meetings, and travel.

Schedule

Hybrid work schedule: 2 days remote, 3 days in the Atlanta office.
