Senior Roadway Engineer

About the role

HDR is looking for a Senior Roadway Engineer to join our South Carolina Transportation Business Group. In this role, you will serve in a technical capacity under the direction of a Project Manager, overseeing the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects. You will prepare detailed engineering designs, participate in site feasibility analysis through final design and construction, and assume some project management duties while interacting with clients as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects
• Oversee the work of CAD Designers, and possibly EITs
• Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects
• Participate in activities ranging from site feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase
• Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed

Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years' experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
• Bachelor's degree
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license)
• Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Local candidates are preferred
• Project management skills desirable
• Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
• Coordination of survey, grading, drainage and utilities and layout of various site items
