About the role

We are seeking a SeniorRoadway Design Engineer to join our team in Alexandria, VA area to help work on various highway projects.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Performs preliminary engineering design and/or reviews the design and drafting work of junior engineers, designers or drafters.
  • Prepares cost and man-hour estimates, job budgets and schedules.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of final plans and reports and submits them for approval.
  • Counsels and trains junior engineers, designers or drafters.
  • Coordinates work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff.
  • Plans, schedules and conducts or coordinates construction services on projects of moderate scope.
  • May occasionally assist in the management of projects.
  • May perform such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. The typical incumbent has 6 to 10 years' experience since Bachelor'S or 4 to 8 years' since Master's degree.
  • PE in VA, MD, and/or Washington DC required.
  • DOT and/or local municipality design experience in Virginia, Maryland, and/or Washington DC strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of roadway design and construction practices.
  • Experience with design software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay

Expected compensation range is between $100,000 - $130,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
