Senior RNG Technician
Job Description
The Senior RNG Technician is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation and maintenance of the wellfield, GCCS, RNG plant, and pipeline systems. This role involves leading daily operations, optimizing system performance, troubleshooting, and mentorship.
- Lead daily operations of RNG processing facilities, GCCS infrastructure, and pipeline systems.
- Evaluate system performance trends and proactively adjust vacuum, liquids management, and header configurations to minimize oxygen intrusion.
- Oversee well dewatering programs and pump system performance.
- Cookordination infrastructure modifications required due to landfill development.
- Evaluate landfill operational impacts on GCCS performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Cookordinate access and protection of gas infrastructure during landfill activities.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
This role requires performing and leading preventive maintenance, diagnosing and correcting faults, and conducting advanced troubleshooting of control systems and instrumentation.
- Perform and lead preventive maintenance for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Diagnose and correct faults in all site infrastructure; compressors, blowers, pumps, membranes, PSA units, analyzers, sensors, and related plant systems.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting of control systems and instrumentation, including calibration of flow, pressure, temperature, and level sensors.
- Test and repair electrical circuits (up to 480V) using meters and diagnostic tools while maintaining compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
- Support planning and execution of scheduled outages and maintenance activities, including defining parts, tools, and contractor requirements.
Safety and Compliance
Ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, PHMSA, and site air permit requirements is a key responsibility of this role. This includes supporting environmental monitoring events and regulatory inspections, implementing and documenting LOTO and required safety permits, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Team Leadership and Collaboration
Leading and mentoring junior technicians, collaborating with engineering and project teams, and communicating effectively with cross-functional teams are essential aspects of this role.
- Mentor and train RNG Technicians in operations, troubleshooting, and safety practices.
- Serve as acting Lead Technician when the Lead Technician is unavailable.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams during commissioning, performance testing, and process optimization initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, environmental, and compliance personnel.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintaining accurate operations and maintenance records, preparing reports summarizing plant performance, downtime, and corrective actions, and supporting renewable energy credit documentation and environmental compliance reporting are important responsibilities.

Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, process operations, electrical systems, or instrumentation is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in landfill gas processing, RNG, biogas, chemical plant, or power generation facility operations is required.
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and process troubleshooting in an industrial setting is necessary.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring junior technicians is strongly preferred.
- A strong understanding of process control systems, mechanical systems, and electrical circuits is required.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals is essential.
- Skilled in diagnosing, calibrating, and maintaining instrumentation and control equipment is crucial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and computerized maintenance systems is important.
- Effective communication and strong organizational and documentation skills are required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make informed operational decisions is necessary.
Location and Availability
This job opening will be based at a designated plant location, with potential rotation to other sites as needed. Availability for shift work, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations as required for 24/7 operations is expected.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at elevated heights. Work in outdoor environments including active landfills with exposure to varying weather, noise, and industrial hazards (e.g., methane, H₂S).
