Senior Risk Solution Specialist - Environmental & Energy

About the role

The Senior Risk Solutions Specialist is a mid-level technical position supporting loss control and risk engineering efforts through interaction with internal and external stakeholders. You’ll review and assign inspection requests, perform or review Tier I and II surveys, attend industry events, and collaborate on internal initiatives to provide loss control engineering expertise that helps meet customer and corporate goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide loss control engineering expertise to enable loss control to meet customer and corporate goals
• Support underwriting and business development through customer visits and consultation
• Perform and/or review multiple types of loss control surveys (desktop, on-site, phone)
• Review and assign RSS inspection requests to identify the best internal or external resource(s)
• Manage and maintain high-quality deliverables, including reviewing vendor reports for accuracy
• Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to the energy industry
• Maintain expertise and ability to train in environmental-related subject areas
• Manage workload and documentation for tracking work requests
• Assist in managing the vendor program and evaluating vendor quality
• Assist in managing service accounts
• Be knowledgeable in RSS guidelines and procedures
• Provide access to guidance documents and materials for internal and external customers
• Perform other tasks to support RSS quality and growth initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Engineering, Risk Management, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline from an accredited four-year institution
• Minimum of 15 years combined documented environmental loss control/risk management experience
• Track record of successful project management for environmental or energy industry clients
• Demonstrated knowledge of insurance coverage and exposures, with strong experience in loss control, risk engineering, or claims
• Experience with clean energy projects
• Trend of job enlargement with expanding responsibilities in loss control and/or claims management
• US Work Authorization required (Markel does not provide visa sponsorship for this position)

Pay

The base salary for the Sr. Risk Solutions Specialist ranges from $92,880 to $127,710 nationally, plus a 15% incentive. The final offer will be based on job-relevant education, experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.
