About the role

Under the direction of the Supervising Right of Way Agent, the Senior Right of Way Agent manages a Right of Way functional unit, which may include Appraisals, Acquisitions, Utilities, Relocation Assistance, Real Property Services, Railroads, Condemnation, Planning and Management, Local Programs, Right of Way Project Estimates, Certifications, or any combination thereof. The incumbent supervises, directs, reviews, and plans the work of entry-level and Associate-level Right of Way Agents and Support Staff.

Travel is required, and possession of a valid driver’s license is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a Right of Way functional unit (e.g., Appraisals, Acquisitions, Utilities, Relocation Assistance, Real Property Services, Railroads, Condemnation, Planning and Management, Local Programs, Right of Way Project Estimates, Certifications).
  • Supervise, direct, review, and plan the work of entry-level and Associate-level Right of Way Agents and Support Staff.
  • Serve as a role model in the right of way field.
  • Coordinate and oversee projects in Acquisition, Condemnation, Project Coordination, and Planning & Management.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the SENIOR RIGHT OF WAY AGENT exam. Candidates without current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) or new to state civil service must be on the state examination list.

Qualifications

Applicants must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) addressing the following:

  • Why you are the best candidate for the position.
  • Your experience leading a team and being a role model in the right of way field.
  • Your experience in Acquisition, Condemnation, Project Coordination, and Planning & Management.

The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages in length, and in 12-point Arial font. Resumes and cover letters will not substitute for the SOQ.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If basing eligibility on education, include unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification. Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a U.S. equivalency report from a NACES or AICE evaluation agency.

Pay

$8,678.00 - $10,783.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
