Senior Reviewer - Office of Accountability and Transparency Department
About This Position
The City of Phoenix established the Office of Accountability and Transparency (OAT) to review administrative investigations involving members of the Phoenix Police Department. OAT makes findings about the completeness and thoroughness of these administrative investigations and makes recommendations for future investigations to the Police Chief, Mayor's Office, City Manager's Office, and the Civilian Review Board. Additionally, OAT makes recommendations regarding policy and training issues to advance the mission of the City of Phoenix. OAT is seeking Senior Reviewers to review administrative investigations involving members of the Phoenix Police Department.
Primary Functions
- Reviewing administrative investigations and writing professional and well-reasoned reports, making recommendations for future investigations.
- Evaluating and processing complaints or commendations from members of the public, engaging professionally, tactfully, and compassionately with members of the public.
- Engaging in and supporting other work groups in the office, including administration, community engagement, and mediation.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, professional reports that demonstrate thorough review and analysis.
- Experience conducting and/or reviewing investigations, reviewing or collecting evidence/facts and applying law/rules/policy to those facts and evidence, or in civilian oversight of law enforcement.
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, criminal justice, social sciences or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with City of Phoenix Administrative Regulations and Personnel Rules, Phoenix Police Department Operations Orders and department manuals, and statutes, ordinances, and public policy relating to policing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience receiving complaints, answering questions, and providing information through various methods.
- Experience conducting intakes or interviews to obtain detailed information of an investigation and documenting information as received.
- Proficiency using MS Office software.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Experience working weekends, evenings, early morning hours, and holidays.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $82,056 - $121,243 annually. Hiring Range: $82,056 - $99,736 annually. Pay Range Explanation: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
