ProfitSolv is a SaaS business services provider for the legal and accounting industry.
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to own the revenue accounting cycle across our multi-entity platform. This role leads the consolidated revenue close end to end, including recording journal entries, reconciling the deferred revenue subledger, maintaining ASC 606 compliance, and advising on non-routine revenue recognition such as contract modifications, multi-element arrangements, and third-party revenue sharing. The role reports to the Director of Revenue and works cohesively with the billing operations, corporate accounting team, and FP&A.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and record revenue transactions and deferred revenue across all legal entities.
- Own the deferred revenue subledger and rollforward schedules, tying to billing system data at every close with no plugs or estimates.
- Automate reconciliations onto a standard, audit-ready format.
- Apply the five-step ASC 606 model across a portfolio of subscription and professional services contracts.
- Identify performance obligations and determine standalone selling prices.
- Review contracts for variable consideration, modifications, and multi-element arrangements, and write a technical memo where the accounting is not routine.
- Account for third-party revenue-sharing arrangements, including principal versus agent conclusions and allocation of the transaction price.
- Assist with 606 analysis and technical accounting memos.
- Validate opening balances and inherited trial balance activity for acquired entities; document and escalate discrepancies.
- Confirm that every journal entry has supporting documentation in place before close sign-off.
- Prepare revenue schedules for audit, lender, and investor requests.
- Document each core revenue workflow as performed to build out an SOP library.
- Flag recurring systematic or process issues and recommend solutions to billing and revenue processes.
- Work with the billing operations team to mitigate data issues at the source.
- Present complex financial data in an accessible way for general business leaders.
- Follow established policies and procedures to keep confidential information secure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 2+ years of revenue accounting experience, including hands-on ASC 606 application in a software or subscription environment.
- Experience in owning the deferred revenue subledger and its billing system reconciliation.
- Chargebee (or a similar billing platform) and Sage Intacct experience preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Multi-entity experience; acquisition integration exposure a plus.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong initiative and sound decision-making ability.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Benefits
- 401K match.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Health, dental, and vision coverage.
- HSA and FSA policies.
- Performance-based compensation.
- Remote work flexibility.
