Senior Resident Project Representative (RPR)
About the role
The Senior Resident Project Representative (RPR) serves as the Engineer's primary field representative during construction and acts as a critical liaison between the Owner, Engineer, Contractor, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders. This position requires extensive knowledge of construction practices, contract administration, construction observation procedures, project documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Engineer's on-site representative throughout construction activities.
- Maintain continuous communication with project management and engineering staff regarding project status, risks, and field conditions.
- Provide objective observations and recommendations concerning construction progress and compliance.
- Facilitate communication among project stakeholders to support efficient project execution.
- Mentor junior inspectors, construction observers, and field personnel.
- Support project delivery objectives while maintaining professional independence and contractual authority limitations.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline preferred.
- Minimum 8 + years of progressively responsible experience in construction administration, construction observation, inspection, infrastructure projects, or engineering consulting.
- Experience serving as a Resident Project Representative, Construction Manager, Owner's Representative, Senior Inspector, or similar role.
- Working knowledge of EJCDC contract documents, public infrastructure construction, and construction administration procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, shop drawings, schedules, and contract documents.
- Experience with project documentation systems, field reporting, and construction records management.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Relevant certifications such as NICET, ICC, ACI, DOT Inspector, OSHA, or equivalent preferred.
