Temporary position, 35 hours per week, non-exempt. Salary range: $56.26 - $63.41 per hour.

About the Role

Plans, organizes, and performs scientific research projects in neurological surgery. Works independently to design, plan, and develop new methods and technologies for research advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as specialist in laboratory-specific research methods and equipment.
  • Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
  • Creates and conducts experiments; troubleshoots issues and recommends solutions.
  • Evaluates experiment results using statistical and multivariate analysis.
  • Collaborates with industry or academic specialists to apply research results and develop new techniques.
  • Presents ongoing work and findings at conferences; summarizes research nature and methodology.
  • Provides technical lab support by performing complex laboratory and research-related tasks.
  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures; leads qualification and validation efforts for assays and procedures.
  • Researches new products, tests, and methods; reports on feasibility, quality, and benefits of new developments.
  • Organizes and presents data sets to the Principal Investigator (PI) and programmatic leadership teams.
  • Summarizes completed protocols and studies; writes scientific articles and manuscripts for publication and presentation.
  • Supervises and mentors lab staff and students.
  • Monitors progress of research projects; coordinates with leadership to stay on budget, schedule, and meet milestones and deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biological, Chemical, and/or Physical Sciences, or higher.
  • PhD preferred.
  • Approximately 3-5 years of experience in standard techniques of molecular and cell biology and biochemistry, including: RT-PCR, molecular cloning, transformation, transfection, cell culture, genotyping, immunoblotting, and immunofluorescence.
  • Approximately 3-5 years of experience conducting scientific research in the field related to this role; publications desired.
