Senior Research Engineer
About the role
Saint-Gobain/CertainTeed Gypsum R&D is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer in Materials Formulation to develop, optimize, and scale gypsum-based and adjacent building-material formulations. The role bridges materials science, formulation design, analytical characterization, process development, and formulation-to-manufacturing transfer. The position contributes to product performance, robustness, cost, sustainability, manufacturability, and speed of execution across the Gypsum R&D portfolio. The successful candidate will translate lab-scale formulation science into scalable and measurable product/process outcomes by building structure-property-process relationships, applying DoE/statistical methods, and partnering with manufacturing, quality, procurement, product management, technical service, suppliers, and other R&D teams. The role supports priorities including raw materials and additives, lightweighting, fire and moisture performance, product sustainability, operational robustness, and qualification of alternative materials.
