Responsibilities
Break exclusives, identifying and producing angles that others miss
Turn around high quality investigative pieces on tight timelines when breaking news demands it.
You should be equally comfortable chasing enterprise investigative projects and jumping into fast-breaking developments, always finding the sharpest angle and the most compelling way to tell the story
Pitch fresh ideas multiple times a week — staying ahead of the curve and also creatively reacting to the news cycle
Maintain the highest standards in reporting, ensuring accuracy and an understanding of journalistic ethics and legal standards (including source protection, verification and libel and defamation)
Requirements
This position involves some domestic travel
Qualifications
- 5+ years of newsroom experience, with a strong focus on features writing and breaking exclusives
- Able to produce sparkling, thorough and accurate copy on deadline
- A tenacious attitude and hunger to land the big gets
- A deep curiosity about everything from true crime to Hollywood, tech to wealth, politics to education, including national affairs and only in New York stories — and the power players in all these worlds
- A bright, clean writing voice and nimble talent for picking up the signature Post attitude and style
- An instinctive knack for getting anyone to talk and the ability to verify what they say
Preferred Qualifications
- An understanding of and ability to locate court filings and financial, business and real estate records to support exclusive reporting
- On-camera and/or social content creator experience
Benefits
The New York Post adheres to an on-site work model (subject to change based on business needs). The shift schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. EST.
Pay
Base Pay Range: $95,000 - $115,000
